Memoir
A Faith-Affirming Conversion Journey Unlike Any Other
Kevin Kuster, former Playboy photographer turned devout follower of Jesus, announces the release of his debut memoir, “From Playboy to Prodigal Son”
For over twenty years, Kevin Kuster was immersed in the decadent world of Playboy magazine. Rising through the ranks to Senior Photography Editor, he lived a life marked by excess, alcohol abuse, promiscuity, and a false identity. Then a near-death experience and a life-altering encounter with the Holy Spirit changed everything.
In this emotionally raw and poignant memoir, Kuster recounts his unconventional and momentous journey from a world of hedonism to a life transformed by faith in Jesus Christ. Pulling back the curtain on power, celebrity, and pornography, he shares how he found salvation where he least expected it—in the arms of a loving God. From lavish parties at the Playboy Mansion to serving in leper colonies, this sinner-to-son memoir explores the power of divine intervention and redemption in the most unexpected places. Told with courage, humor, and unflinching vulnerability, From Playboy to Prodigal Son: A Photographer’s Journey from Emptiness to Meaning is an inspiring testament to the power of faith, healing, and belonging.

Following a near-death experience, while battling depression and in the middle of a painful divorce, Kuster found himself in an unlikely place—a Christian healing conference. Despite not knowing who or what the Holy Spirit was, he had a powerful personal encounter with God. In the wake of that divine experience, Kuster promised God he would change every aspect of his life.

After leaving Playboy magazine, Kuster helped found the global nonprofit Watts of Love. He went from photographing the world’s most beautiful and renowned celebrities to delivering life-changing solar lights to the poorest people on the planet—in the leper colonies of Nepal, the garbage dumps of Kenya, and the slums of Haiti. In spreading solar lights, love, and the story of God’s grace, Kuster found deliverance from his former decadent life.
In relating his story, Kuster invites readers to bring their skepticism with them as he openly probes his own doubts and struggles along the path to spiritual truth. By sharing his healing journey with raw humility, he leaves readers with the certainty that his encounter with the Holy Spirit led him to true deliverance and salvation.
“Not only did I run from God, I actively worked my entire professional life to bring pain, sin, and pornography into the world. Hiding behind false personalities and erroneous titles, and pursuing everything the world says will provide meaning—prestige, prominence, power, profit, and possessions—my life was empty and without purpose. It wasn’t until my life imploded and I fell to my knees that God lovingly revealed my only important and true identity—His son.”
